Newest chick is RIR mix. momma hen is still on other eggs.I have been transfering the eggs from my incubator to her once they are in the air cell. She gives them the extra will to hatch.

I saved a chick today. I put incubator eggs out last night under a broody. at 7am eggs and mom were fine. she hatched out one chick and the other eggs looked like they had a way to go. at 10:30am I went to check on eggs and mom. She at one point busted out of the barrier I had put up to keep her in, other hens out to do her 15 min. off the nest before setting again. Well she got back on the wrong nest. so at 10:30 eggs incubator eggs were cold (it was about 32 out), but one had zipped all the way but was still in shell. I put her in my pocket, and put the mom back on nest. When I got inside, I pulled the zipped egg/chick out of my pocket. she was cold and not moving, I pulled her all the way out of the shell still cold to the touch not moving. I got a warm wash cloth and wrapped her in that while a heating pad warmed. I massaged her little body and called her "Nancy" That was her egg name. She slowly came to opened her eyes and started to peep.
.

She is a RIR/EE.
