Baby Chick Pictures!!!!! POST!

My week old EE bitties (all 16 of em) and my beau's trio of mallard ducklings enjoying some green time :) They've outgrown the cardboard box, so I let them have access to grit this morning and set them down to play in the grass while I cleaned the brooder and coop this afternoon. They went absolutely wild and complained loudly when I put them back in the brooder. Might be getting close to time to let them have their own mini-run. I prefer to let them feather in more before giving "official" run access, but our local temperature is Hi 95°F Lo 78°F with a "Real Feel" index of 113°F :O the humidity is what kicks our butts! So I guess it's alright to let them out and about as long as they're

Hey Alex,
I'm just a little south of you, so I understand the heat! When the weather man tells you it's 95* during the day, that's the temp in the shade. It's actually over 100 out in the yard. Your babies should be fine in their own little protected run for short periods. We need to be more concerned that they get too hot rather than too cold down here. I've got 5 EE's myself, along with 34 plus others (RIR, BR, GC, etc.)

Hubby said no more hatching, and I had to give up roosters, so the day I gave up my last rooster I slipped 2 more eggs under a hen. I had not hatched any from that roo yet, so no more hatching did not apply then.

I just had one hatch. and one pipped. 2 hens are fighting over the last egg.

This is the first chick, the other egg is a blue egg with pip.

This one hatched from a tan egg with purple spots. the mom was a smooth gray frizzle, the dad was a black silky.

UPDATE<

The second chick hatched...

The first chick was "Pecan" the second black chick is "Piney" the dad's name was Peanut. This black chick's mom was a red frizzle.

2 weeks old, already been out a week. currently spending all day outside climbing over and under a pile of tree branches,
digging up dirt and performing 1 meter long low lvl flights chasing flies. way better than watching tv.
