Chicks were born oct. 5, I read other threads on this condition, but live 30min from my local TSC, and i don't have salmut or whatever was recommended for the water.... what can i do? I have a silkie going down quickly.... all the others seem fine so far, but read i need to treat the whole flock.... Thanks for quick help!

Regardless, I would recommend that you get some Corid. If it isn't available locally, you can get it online, even from Amazon. It's about $20 from Amazon, and you can overnight it.
9.6 % solution. 9.5 cc's per gallon of water, for 5 days typically. Fresh solution each day.
I just keep it as part of my 1st aid kit now.

Keep them hydrated and eating, perhaps even putting a bit of sugar or electrolytes in their water.
Next is Corid. Drive 30 minutes to that tractor supply and pick some up. When it hit mine, I had to drive to 3 different tractor supplies until I finally found one with one bag left. I lost two birds from it, but luckily, the corid saved my Salmon Faverolles cockerel that I thought was far too gone to be saved (purple comb, couldn't eat, couldn't stand, couldn't drink on his own). Sulmet might work, but it doesn't treat all types of coccidia, where as Corid does.
Now I keep Corid on hand, always.

I just wanted to clarify, the milk flush was intended only as an emergency back up in the event you cannot get Corid soon.
Your chicks are very young and very susceptible. The sooner you start treatment the better. They can go from appearing OK, to dying in a very short time. I would at least call your local store to see if they have corid in stock. I would not wait to start treatment unless I had absolutely no other choice.

If they stop drinking, use an eye dropper or needleless syringe to dribble some into their beaks to get them started, until they start drinking again.

OK! Thanks for the help!! I did go into town and got some corid.... i cleaned up the water dish very thoroughly, and then mixed 2tsp corid to 1 gal water, and some are drinking right up.... I lost the one silkie this morning, it was barely breathing when i went out first thing and checked em.... with not have corid on hand, i didn't know what to do to save him.... the other silkie is still pooping red when i gave them the corid water, i tried getting him to drink but he refused..... he is running around perky and acting fine... i assume he will get it in his system soon.....?? or should i eye drop it down him? Also, do i need to do anything to their brooder pen? i have sand in the bottom of their pen.... any different feed than starter crumbles?? Are silkies delicate birds?? Ive had em in the past and they seemed to do good here in SW KS, now in this batch of chicks i ordered an assortment.... salmon fav.,silver laced polish, barred plymouth rock, speckled sussex, easter eggers, light brown leghorn, mottled cochin bantam...... Maybe it was mottled cochin bantam i lost this morn......??? I don't see silkies on my order form now when i look.....

I thought i knew how to raise chickens cause i grew up with em and then i had a little batch a couple years ago.... but have never ran into this current problem I'm treating for.......

Glad you were able to get some corid and start treatment. Hope you don't lose any more.
If they are eating and drinking normally, they should get the meds. If anybody gets lethargic and stops eating and drinking then I'd use the dropper and get some down them.
Don't squirt it into their lungs, just dribble into the beak, and they'll swallow. Just keep an eye on them and watch for anybody to act poorly.
You will probably see improvement within 48 hours.
I would clean the pen, and try to keep it as clean as you can. When I'm using a brooder pen, I clean daily, and wipe everything down with vinegar, and make sure it's dry. And keep the water as clean as possible. I know that can be a challenge with chicks. But dirty water,with droppings in it can be a big problem. I usually raise my waterers and feeders up on a couple of 2x4's or bricks, to minimize them scratching stuff into it. Just make sure they can reach it, and not knock it over. I've seem some people make a short platform out of 1/4" hardware cloth to raise them up on. They can still walk on it, but all the 'stuff' falls through.
And you may have to change water often. You can make your corid mixture in a gallon jug, and refill the waterer(s) as needed to minimize waste. Just make a new batch every day. And it should be the only water they have during treatment.
If any of your chicks were vaccinated for Coccidiosis, then feeding medicated feed will neutralize the vaccination. I've personally never used anything but regular starter feed.
Those that are exposed and survive, should build some immunity. Having said that, it can happen anytime, to any chicken. Thus it's a good idea to keep Corid on hand.
I can't speak to the hardiness of silkies, as I've never had any (they are on my 'someday' list!). Perhaps someone on here will know more about them.
