This morning I noticed one of my new golden sebright chicks had pasty butt. As I was cleaning it off I saw what I think is a prolapsed vent. There's also an odd bump on it's abdomen.

The chick is very docile, but doesn't seem outwardly I'll -- just sleepy baby chick behavior. Yesterday it was eating and drinking as normal. I am not 100% sure about today, as I just discovered it and plan to continue observing.

Is there a home treatment I can do? Is it an emergency warranting a vet? Is the chick lost?? Help!!!

The bump on the abdomen is probably her navel. Be very gentle cleaning the vent, and add a little vaseline or ointment onto the vent to keep it lubricated. Pasty butt can cause a prolapse, and I would give her some coconut oil, slightly chilled chopped in a few pieces to eat. Or give 1/4 tsp olive oil or mineral oil very slowly by mouth to see if it lubricates and helps end her constipation. Make sure that your brooder heat is not too hot and that there is a cool spot to go to. Get her drinking plenty of water.
