I found this chick this morning cold located near broody mom. It was halfway hatched but the membrane was dried and trapped around upper half of the chick. It was clear it had been like this awhile as it’s lower half was fluffed out. I took it inside and assisted it by removing the remaining membrane and warmed it up slowly over 2 hours. I just checked on it and now this is extruding from its umbilical area. Not a good sign I’d think. I’m assuming there’s nothing to be done and it’ll die?

Sadly no. I added vitamins to water but it trouble even drinking. It went downhill and died later that evening. It got perky a couple of times but mostly was very lethargic.
