Hello! A couple of days ago I posted a thread concerning my weak baby chick. He's the only chick and we just introduced him to 3 other chicks, older we got from the farm today. It's the second time now that he has starting acting weird, laying a lot, keeping eyes closed, not being able standing, droopy head. Should I be concerned? The last time this happened I fed him some sugar water and corn flower paste and after a while he seemed to get better and regained his forces. Is he simply tired? I rested him on my belly for him to sleep and he was still chirping. Thank you!

Hi, sorry you are having trouble. What are you keeping him in and how are you keeping him warm? Can you post a pic of your setup, then maybe we can help spot the problem and tell you how to fix it.
hello! thank you for the response. We have him in a box with bedding and a lamp. I unfortunately cant take a picture since it's late and I don't want to be a bother. The lamp is a cylinder and produces heat, but theres not much direct light. Should I maybe change to a lamp that would allow light? Would it be better? Is there anything I should be especially concerned about? Thank you.

He's now alone in the box and we put him closer to the light so there's direct light but not too much on him. He's sleeping and I put a little kibble with warm water next to him. I added a thermometer and the temp is currently 23 degrees and going up. if it doesn't go up more I'll move him to a smaller box with another lamp to try to get the temp higher. He's breathing from what I can tell.

The fact that he's resting but still peeping sounds to me like too cold but it could be anything, that's just where I'd start. What are you feeding it? Any ACV or chick saver in the water? Is it's crop full?
