Do you have a mirror that can reflect off the heat lmap and cause the chick to burn? That happened to one of my freinds.

Sometimes the meatl food containers get hot in the brooder.

Plastic food container and not near a window. I think it came to us this way. My friend ordered buff orphingtons and australorps and 1 australorp was dead when it arrived and 1 died the next day.. now mine is sick. The buff ones are doing fine.

The liquid, any odor?
I would spray with vetericyn, treat it like a burn, but very hard to know why it's like that.
Carol may have better ideas though!
