Thanks...Actually, I don't have a rooster but one of my 5 hens went "broody" so instead of interfering with her we just got some "donor eggs" from a friend. I have no idea what kind they are (they could be a mixed breed) but we didn't care. We just felt sorry for "Louise" because she wanted to hatch something and we thought it might be fun. She sat on 4 eggs for 20 days and we expected chicks the next day but apparently a snake got her eggs just before they hatched!!! Nothing can get in our coop except a snake and we've had 3 just this summer. Anyway, we couldn't keep her off the nest so we got 8 eggs from another friend and she hatched 6 of those. I don't know what kind they are either but I'll be anxious to see what they look like when they're older
