I have a couple week old chick that has gray coloring all around her eyes. Sometimes she has some discharge coming out. She also has a black mark on her back. Not sure if she got pecked at or not but it is not bleeding. It is kind of a hard spot on her back. Is there anything I can do to help her?

She is eating and drinking on her own.

Here are pictures of her.

The eye looks like it might have been pecked and could be infected, but mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) respiratory disease can also cause this. I would apply a warm wet wash cloth to the eye for a few minutes to soften the crusty drainage. Then flush the eye twice a day with saline eye wash, and then apply a small dab of plain triple antibiotic ointment, or Terramycin eye ointment if you can get it. Have you seen any sneezing? The sore on the back would do well with cleaning and applying the same ointment.

Thank you for your reply! I have not noticed any sneezing. She drinks and eats like the other chicks. I do see her under the heater more often than the other chicks.

She is missing the down fur/ feathers around her eyes.
