Baby Chick Won't Eat/Drink; Empty Watery Crop

Haha...she was already the favorite of one of my friends who came by to visit. And I don't have favorites, right?

I fed them some yogurt because I felt safer doing that after seeing Jalapeño eating. They went nuts, they hadn't had it for a while because I didn't want to risk it. Maybe they'll get some hard boiled egg tonight...

just be sure if you feed anything other than their chick starter that you offer them some chick grit sprinkled on the bottom of the brooder.. they can sure grow on ya can't they?

They have a box of dirt in their brooder. They were also let out to play yesterday. My poor EE...grow little baby grow! You don't want to be the tiniest of the bunch forever, do you? Not until you all grow up, then it's a-okay.

you'll be surprised how fast they grow once they really start to eat. I had to Lavender Orps in my house in Feb. one was 2 weeks older than the other, after a month you can hardly tell the difference so she will catch up, unless you have a bantam..

Not a bantam, they had no bantams in the feed store when we went. They were in the same....box? Enclosure? (the two EE's, but the other was bigger) I'm just waiting for her to grow...the others have more feathers already, she looks very similar but I'm hoping that her eating is a sign that she will have a giant growth spurt, long overdue.

Little bugger was fooling me about the water, too. Last night, I popped in to check on them...three chicks visible, none at the feeder. Uh-oh. Then I saw her, hiding behind the waterer. Huh? Who, what, ME? No way. I wasn't drinking...I was just, um, playing hide-and-seek! Yes, playing hide-and-seek from the human, not the other chicks.

This morning, I dipped her beak in water, then she took two more beakfuls of water by herself and ran off. Just put them outside about 10 minutes ago, this time she drank from the waterer base.
