Baby Chick Yellow Gunk

This baby chick has yellow gunk hanging out of it and because of this, it is having a hard time flipping over on its front. Can I safely clean this off or just let it be?

What should I do?

totally normal and should dry more and fall off on its own. If it doesn't fall off you can clip it once its dry.

That is just the normal chick gunk that is normally left inside of the shell.

What should I do about the fact that it can't seem to flip over? I have tried flipping it, but it flips back.

if it has just hatched leave it for a few hours to regain its strength. Then see how it is standing and if it may have leg/foot problems. Keep a good eye on it and keep us posted.

You should just leave it alone for now. It will dry out, rest, and get up when it is ready.

He is doing better now. I did have to flip him over a few times and finally it stuck. He is still pretty wobbly on his feet though. I am hoping after he finishes drying out and gets a little stronger he will be okay. He hatched around 5 hours ago, so he still has plenty of time to stabilize.
