I have 6 baby chicks. They are all 4-5 weeks old. 3 of the chicks are twice the size of the other three. Can I temporarily sped are the 3 larger from the 3 smaller and reintroduce in a few weeks? I have a sheep tank in the house with the chicks now and planned to move them to a large pool in the garage but I’m afraid the 3 chicks will trample the smaller ones and I’m also afraid the smaller ones are ready for the garage. Or maybe I’m not haha. FYI there will be a heat source in garage.

I'm very new to this, but we have the same situation. I decided not to split them up and I've found that the smaller chicks are thriving and the larger ones haven't trampled them at all.

Makes me think of a broody hen raising her chicks. Sometimes one of those chicks is in the wrong place when the broody is scratching. That chick goes flying through the air, quite a distance, hop sup and runs back to Mama.

I'm not saying it is impossible for a big one to hurt a little one but I'd leave them together.
