Also, the Japanese channel had a segment of the value of the "sumo squat" for strengthening the core and lower body.
A quick netsearch found info on some of the benefits for non-sumo wrestlers and on how to do it. Except the Japanese channel had people lifting their feet (up to about knee high) while keeping the position of the lower body the same. Alternating feet, of course.
I think it would be very helpful as part of countering osteoporosis.
Incidentally, Sekiwake Kirishima won the March Grand Tournament this year. And the Ukranian did very respectably. And I'm quite glad the tournament is over so NHK can go back to showing more people and place segments.
