Baby chicks dying

Hi. We recently bought 6 baby chicks and we have lost all but 2 in three days. We have had three chicks four days. They ask seemed fine then they started getting lethargic and died within hours. Of the two we have left one is starting to act sick. I bought corid which they have been on for three days because of what I read on a few forums but she still appears to be getting sick. She looks to be panting, chirping a lot, then nods of standing up, then perks up for a little while then goes through everything again. The chicks appear to be a little more then a week old but I’m not sure. Any ideas?

Could you provide pictures of your brooder? One possibility that comes to my mind is they are getting heat stressed from the "panting" symptom. At one week they need 90 degrees or less and the ability to escape the heat lamp.

Yes absolutely!

Perfect I use a heat pad and have no issues with them and recommend that system. yes if butt looks pasty, clean it and Vaseline it.

With pasty butt even what seems like a small amount of poop stuck there can block the opening and then they can’t poop. If they can’t poop they die.
