baby chicks getting droopy wings

Can anyone out here help me i took my chicks out to chicken house after they were feathered and now some of them r getting droopy wings and trying to die on me. I still have light on them and they r not to crowded . Any suggestions would be most helpful before i loose all my hard work on these lil guyz and galz...............thanks rj

That happened to me and it was back to the indoor brooder with them, most still died...once they got the droopy wings they were done within 3 days. I segregated those from the rest but in a matter of about a week I lost a BUNCH, same batch. I had healthy chicks come out of the same brooder so it didnt seem contagious but it must be some kind of bug. Ive had feathered chicks fall in adult water bowls (I use short sided bowls for adults-easier and faster to fill and clean) and be in there for HOURS and gasping and looking like goners and yet I managed to rush them under a light and in 2 days they are as good as new, so I dont think its chilling that is causing the droopy wings...(and mine would just stop eating as well) Would love to hear someone elses input. This much I know the ones that I had that time with "droopy wing" were all from the same hatch.

i lost 2 more this evening they under a light and have plenty of room also up off the ground can't afford to loose all of them anyone else have suggetstions

I feel terrible for you. Is this a coop that has held chickens before? Did you disinfect before putting the new ones in? What is on the floor? Any chance that there is cedar in their shavings? Are you feeding out of the same food? Could there be mold in the food or the building? I really don't know but hope that you can figure it out. It sounds as though there was something out there that did it to them?

ETA I would bring them in like the previous poster suggested and segregate the unwell ones until you figure out the problem.

Are they on medicated feed? Do they get poofed out looking? I wonder if it could be cocci. Otherwise, with the droopy wing thing, that makes me think of a toxin..... like botulism or some other form.

i have chickens out there now the place i have them is cleaned out every 2 days i guess i will hope for the best and thanks for all the info. .................rj
