That belly issue has something to do with when they asorb the yolk. When I hatch chicks I have the same issue, except most of them dont even hatch.

So I lost one chick today. Big distended belly and started throwing up foam. I noticed last night it wouldn't sleep with the other chicks it was just standing wobbly the whole time. It's belly was so big I had to raise the water for it to drink and it ended up passing just an hour later anyways. It wasn't pooping either I'm not even sure it was eating or drinking but it's stomach was so big it was almost bald and I could see veins through the skin. Poor baby. Looking back on the videos I took it was always standing there right outside the light ring swaying. Less than a full 48 hours of life at least it got cuddles.

Probably an infection from the navel.

I lost one more chick sadly. It aspirated something between being checked on at 4 and 8 am.

The rest have been doing amazing and are outgrowing the 80 gallon tote brooder! Here are some update pics! Any guesses on cockerels welcome I have three without tails and they are two weeks old today.

Thanks, I just threw it away because it got a little poopy but it’s easy as heck to make and I have tons of extra boxes.

Consider making a post about it... I'd love to learn how to make one too, and I love that when you are done brooding it can go away instead of being stored for another day!

I suspect the circled chicks are
Cockerels. Already turning pink at just shy of three weeks. They so are the first to peck my hand and check me out.
