I have 6 black australorp pullets, they will be 2 weeks old this Sunday (3/30). I have tried multiple times in the last few days to cut their heat down by 5° ( they stay in our utility shed with a thermostat controlled heater with a heat lamp in the corner if they get cold) They freak and huddle under the heat lamp anytime I touch the thermostat on the heater. I keep a thermometer in the coolest corner of their brooder and so far it has had to stay between 95°-93° for them to be happy. Am I spoiling them or am I doing right by following their cues. I'm a first time chicky mommie learning the ropes and need advice.

More than likely it is when the light goes dim or out that they start acting up. Don't mess with the thermo, just raise the light a bit. They should be fine with 85 at 2weeks old.

I haven't moved their light just tried turning the thermostat on the heater down a little and the next time I would go check on them (usually an hr later) they would all be huddled under the light. If I leave the heat alone they are all running around, playing, jumping and flapping their little wings. Judging by their cues they're way happier a little warmer. When there is a momma chicken do they force them out of the warm or let them choose when venture out?

I would raise the lamp as well. When they're with a broody, she just gets up and goes about her business when she wants. When they start their cold chirp, she'll let them under for a bit, but then she's back to her business when she's ready.
