Baby Chicks out with Mama (Pics-Heavy)

I can't resist posting pictures of the babies first day out in the run. They follow Mother hen and copy her, she is very attentive to every detail. She has certain calls which the chicks seem to understand. They run when she says "I found something good to eat" or they run for cover with another call. I find it so entertaining. Thought I would share some photos.

Here she is listening to a bird outside...could be a hawk.

I love pictures like these. Where we used to live we had a pond full of geese and about this time every year you would see the mommas floating their chicks around and teaching them how to survive, and I used to like to watch them( while I was fishing of course, lol ) Great pics

Thank you. She is an EE hen. Her beard and muffs were pecked off when she was the bottom of the pecking order. It never really grew back. Vortec, nice image. I can imagine how cute it must have been.

Oh i absolutely LOVE the one of the mother with the babies under her wing, that is so adorable!!!!!!!
