I was picking up eggs from a local breeder when I saw these two one day old chicks. The mother had scalped them. Do you think they will survive? I ended up taking them home....bleedin

g heart that I am.

Oh my gosh, the poor babies!!!
That was really nice of you. I hope someone posts some help for you soon.
Thanks. It was heartbreaking but I have no experience with chicks yet so any help from you guys would be great. I am thinking maybe neosporin without pain reliever in it would work...that's what the facebook folks say anyway.

Oh my goodness! I am sure they will be fine if you keep them clean and taken care of, which you obviously will... Hopefully someone will have something specific you can do to help them further. :)

Neosporin should work well, I used it on my hen when she got her toes bitten off by a raccoon. Are they still bleeding?

x2, How are they doing right now?
one is not doing so well. Barely responsive. She's also the youngest. born only a few minutes before it happened. The other seems mad and is chirping away.

I whole lot of experience with chickens raising their own chicks but I know with mice and rats and hamsters they'll kill and eat babies that have something wrong with them. Could that be the case here? Not sure if chickens do the same.

So sorry to hear about the little one in any case and I'm glad you stepped in and rescued them both. <3
