Our baby chicks hatch 1 week ago under our broody hen, lately since yesterday there been severe wheather down in Fresno, the wind literally took down one of our trees and the rain has been pouring.. I went to check on my chicks and hen so far there all very active when it comes to feeding time and when they get a little to cold they run under momma hen. The wheather is suppose to start clearing up on Sunday but, will the chicks be well?

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Are your hen and chicks in a coop? If your hen has a dry sheltered area out of the bad weather to stay in with the chicks, they should be fine.

Hi, if the chicks are with their mom then they should be fine as the chicks natural instinct is to hide under their mother when they are cold or scared.

Hi there,

and welcome to BYC!

I agree with the other posters. As long as they stay with momma, the babies should be fine. Just make sure they stay in a nice dry, windless area.

Good luck with your broody momma and babies!
