Baby chicks with newborn infant in the house??

I would keep the chicks in an area where you don't have the baby.

Chicks kick up more dust than you can possibly imagine. That isn't good for a baby to breath and could set of respiratory issues.

Be safe. Keep the chicks contained and close the door so the baby isn't breathing chicken dust.

You shouldn't have any problems. I was raised on a huge farm and I know for a fact that my parents had chicks in the house in a brooder when I was a baby. Heck, I turned out halfway normal!

Just keep the baby out of the room the chicks are in and wash your hands well after you do anything with the chicks. We keep our brooder in the basement and you would never know it was down there when you are in any other part of the house. If you live on a ranch, just as I grew up on a major cattle operation, you will eventually be exposed to so much. Don't worry, use good hygiene and have fun!!!!

My aunt and uncle once lost power for over 3 wks and had to move everyone into the livingroom where the wood stove was to keep warm. 2 adults 5 kids, one just a few weeks old and 100 barred rock chicks. It was crazy and none to tidy, but they only lost 5 chicks. One of those was to a cousin who hugged it to hard.
