A friend asked me what it wrong . Her chicks will not eat. She hatched them at home and has a brooder for that. Even putting them with the hen who helped out with the last five has been no help. They watch but do not eat.

I suggested an eyedropper with warm raw milk or cream in it to start them up. I also suggested maybe a bit of vit B 12 could be added to help start appetite.

Sugar water would probably be a better idea than milk or cream. Unfortunately, the chicks will eat or they won't. (You can lead a horse to water...) Not much you can do to force the matter. They may not eat for the first day after birth, but within the next days they should start eating. Just make sure they understand where the food and water are at, and then the rest is up to them.

Good luck.
