Baby chicks

Welcome to BYC! I'm not sure if they're old enough yet.

Absolutely! They'll love them! Make some chick grit available to them if you do offer them foods other than their chick starter.

Welcome to BYC!

Here's an excellent article from the Learning Center about feeding chickens. According to it, you can start to feed them small amounts of treats around 1-2 weeks.

Be sure to look at the healthy treats chart for good ideas of what to give your chickens:

(Don't worry, apples are good.)

Hope that helps. Good luck with your little ones!

They will probably be better off being on their starter feed than getting distracted with various treats. It's like kids, once they have sweets etc, they turn up their nose at nutritional food.

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Chicks will probably not want to eat apples at this age. Besides, you're not supposed to feed them treats like that until they are around 8 weeks. They should really only be eating their chick food right now. An occasional scrambled egg or a little oatmeal is okay now and then. But try and hold off on treats until they are older. And once they start eating things besides their chick feed, make sure they have access to grit.
