Hello friends, this is the first time I am raising chicks. My chicks are about 2 weeks old . Is it safe to move them to a backyard coop? There is a cat problem in my locality so I fear they may pose a threat to my chickens.

How hot/cold is it at your location and is the coop drafty anywhere? How well predator proofed is it? Are you moving their heat source (preferably NOT a heat lamp) out with them?

You certainly can have chicks out at an early age but they'll still need a steady heat source. If you don't think the coop is predator proof against a cat, then it's not going to be predator proof against most predators, so get to reinforcing it and leave the chicks where they're currently at.
