Baby Chicks

Hi, I'm a newbie also and after hearing what the others had to say about your tar paper, I'm wondering about the heavy landscape fabric I just put over my wire cage floor. I bought it several years ago and never used it in the garden. I covered it with a thick layer of pine shavings. My chicks are 8 weeks old. Do you all think it is ok?

Thanks, The girls went out for the first time today. Boy, were they funny. Based on their weight and growth I think the oldest is 3-4 weeks and the youngest just a week or so. My older son (he just turned nine) has really stepped up to the bat on chick care. We're in the Austin area and it was around 70 today. It's always February when I stand in my yard and shout "God, I love Texas"....August and September are another story all together. We're enjoying the peeps and looking forward to summer eggs from our new pets.

I will second that ! I am in San Marcos.

I will take 100° any day over ice, snow and single digits or less for 6 months.

OK ya'all ~ I need some help please. As I'm still a rooky and am ready to order some of the chicks that are for meat only and that are ready at about the 3 month mark. I don't know which to order - please give me some ideas. Also, am a bit new at the butchering and dressing process so whatever information you could offer would be greatly appreciated!

i got some cornish x a week or so ago and they're supposed to be ready for slaughter between 6-8 wks longer if your strict about regulating feed and giving them excersize
