Baby chix 2weeks old sleeping a lot..

My 20 new fuzzy butts seem to sleep a lot
where as visting the farm store the other day.. theirs
are peeping like they are have a jam session.LOL
mine eat n drink and then sleep.
I thought
they would be more active . they are almost 2weeks old.
have them with 85 degree temp and plenty
of chicstarter feed and water changed 3-4 time a day.
sometimes 5 if they made a mess.

Some sleep more than others. My hatchery ones were hyper. The ones from speckled hen sleep and play and grow. and eat. WOW do they ever eat. My others did not eat as much at this stage. I love it. Jean

THey are all different and they go through stages. I have 9 in the brooder right now. 2 of them are lazy. They will walk over and get a drink, walk over and eat, then go right back to their "spot" and take a nap. The rest of them run all over everywhere. I love their personalities, it shows individuality.

I have hatched from my eggs from my ladies
8 out of 9 and they are frisky as
can be. Eat n drink like they are having a ho-down LOL
But then they sleep seems for ever
while the other 12 from 2 of my ladies are slow and poky
all are from the same roo and same moms,
the ones mamas hatched are smaller then my bator hatch and
are 3-4 days apart..but they eat and sleep.

Did the feed store have them under white lights? That could make them more active, also the constant activity around them. I think it's good that they get a chance to sleep.....they are babies!

the feed store was using a red light.
But I have in my brooder a 40 watt blub.
for heat.
