well I have a pair of geese that are setting Fred the gander and Ethel the goose they are in a separate pen from the others . Yesterday I saw 1 egg out of the nest broken but it was nasty and another away from the nest site it had blood inside the shell I thought a possum got in so last night I closed them up were she was nesting and this morning I open the gate and Fred rushed me behind him I saw a baby on its back kicking to right it self. I grabbed it poor thing acted cold so I put it in the brooder with my week old chicks I don't no when it hatched it is dry but not getting up of course I had to go to work. I am taking a 2 hour lunch so I can go home check on him . I am worried about the chicks picking on him. I am going to set up another brooder if he makes it when he bigger I will give him back to the parents. now I am worried about the rest if she hatches more Ethel is a 2 yr. old African buff Fred is a 5 year old American Blue. 1st time for them and me. I took pictures of baby but it is on my phone . Should I separate Fred I am afraid he will trample them . any wisdom guyes.

They should be fine together. Males typically protect their babies better then the females do. He is a new dad and likely just ran over the gosling in all the excitement. When I take the goslings away from mine the males really get worked up and the girls don't mind at all.

Thanks I went home at lunch he seems to be doing better still wobble more alert but I need to get him out from the chickens I am going to set up another brooder if I have to get a duckling for company I will. if more hatch I will slip it in if he is healthy I was afraid the it might have been injured.

Ethel had three more babies they hatched yesterday. so there is a total of four. I still have the one in the house I am making sure the others make it . the other geese can see the babies they were screaming at me when I looked they were being very protective even though they weren't theirs

so funny aren't they.

Fred is an American blue I got him from Holderreads. he had a mate but she died. couple of years ago. I do have American buffs from metza farms, but you cant choose their mates. he fell for this African buff .lol. as of today their are 5 babies. she is still on the nest. how long do they stay on the nest there are still eggs under her.
