Baby Diamondback Terrapin! Pics!

Yea I guess they probably would. But I feel bad for that guy that lived there too. Didn't he have another house in Florida or something though? So I guess he's probably ok.

No, that was the caretaker. I think he went back to Florida a while ago luckily. However, that really old house in the back of the marsh, belongs to someone, he is the last person to have property rights in the Bay marshes. He is old too. While the caretaker is staying there because he has federal permission, this other guy has a house there from before the "no more bay settlement" law was passed. Sorry if that sentence was confusing.

Ohhhh I didn't know there were 2 people living there! I thought it was just the one guy. Awww then I feel bad for the old guy, he's had the land for so long and now it could all be washed away :(

And he was self sufficient too. He got all his water from a rain barrel, and got electricity form solar panels. I don't know if he was going to give the house to someone, but if he wasn't, it would have been taken down when he dies anyways,

Awww :( I hope he evacuated and I hope he had somewhere to go. Hopefully he had family nearby and didn't have to go to a shelter. They were so crowded and probably wouldn't be the best place for really old people.

Not sure where on the coast you are, but I would recommend calling The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. They have a Terrapin project going on there and if they won't take him, I'm sure they can direct you to someone who can. I could probably dig up a phone number or email if you need it. Just let me know.

I would not keep him though. Wild turtles don't thrive well in captivity.
