baby died!

I've had two chicks of mine die . The first one was fiesty and looked healthy, and one morning he was dead. The other one was sick, and died. Both looked like they were sat on, with their legs sprawled straight out, but one was alone. I think they just look that way when they expire.
Sorry , I know what it feels like.-karen

I think there might be a lot of different reasons they don't make it.

I have a 8 chicks in the brooder now and the other day I saw one playing "Keep away" with a little stick. I looked closer and saw it had a little root or at least some little scraggly thing that must have been mixed-in with the pine shavings in it's mouth.

Well, in about 3 seconds it had it almost down it's throat. I ran over and pulled it out.

I think it would have died if it had eaten it. The root had tons of mold and nasty stuff on it.

Who knows what weird little things chicks come into contact with, and eat, during the day.

Sorry for your los.

There are sooooo many things that can happen to little ones that we have no control over.

Don't beat yourself up over it, you did the best you could, just keep doing it for the 11 left.
