So my family and I went camping, we found a baby duck drowning on its back in the pond, no mum nearby, we got it out and waited for quite a while but no mum showed up, we've had it now for 3days but it's leg is not working properly, we've phoned a few vets and bird specialists in the area and they have said without seeing or talking to us for very long that they will put it down, it doesn't seem to be in pain and although she has to hop/waddle around he seems quite happy. It sleeps on its back and loves to cuddle,it really is so lovely. We have 3silkies and a lavender cock already, if we kept it would they live together? Also any advice on the leg?

@ellied Welcome to BYC

Can you bend the foot in the normal position with out hurting the duckling is so you can make a shoe for it go here Poultry Pedia and look at poultry leg problems . You need to take a piece of card board that is thick enough to hold the foot on or a piece of plastic from a cool whip bowl or something similar wrap in tape to keep from cutting the lil ones foot then place the ducks foot out on it before wrapping in tape cut out the shoe so it fits the ducks foot.size. Place the foot on the shoe and tape again you can use paper tape or vet wrap you just don't want to use tape that will take off skin when removed. Might only take a few days but could be long but needs to be done asap the sooner the better.
It sure is a cutie bless you for saving it.
