11 baby ducks from Metzer. They are on Blue Seal multiflock and vitamin water. Regular exercise, clean pen, swimming and otherwise enjoying life. 10 are doing fine.

One duck however took a turn for the worse this morning. Tried to flush his nose, he's squeaked himself horse and seems weak.

Is this one eating and drinking?

Just barley...in the past hour he's only pooed some unsubstantial amount..though multiple times
He tried to flush his nose or you? may have gotten some food or water into his lungs actually air sacs. Supportive care, do you have poultry vitamins like Nutri drench? they can be given directly undiluted into the mouth really good for weak or sick ducklings.

How old are they?

If there is a vet available, I would get help.

Any chance the duckling could have swallowed something like string?

Do they get water with food 24/7?

I would put 100 mg niacin in a gallon of water. Plain niacin, not no-flush or timed release - there may not be enough niacin in the multivitamin.

Just for background, did you see something in the nares?

It is possible the little has a respiratory infection.

There about six days old.

I made a very high concentration of the vitamin powder I have and have been feeding him that.

Nears are clean I had given him a warm bath with all the other duckies after the issue had started.

They've been controlled environment so nothing could be in the throat.

If it's a respiratory infection and it would've had to come from the farm because I often work from home...so I don't even have any chance of spreading things to them.

Doubled The strength of the above. Should I give it some of the powder directly?

Unfortunately local vets are way too expensive for this little guy...especially since I got a bonus duck from Metzer

Is weaker than The other ducks but seems to be a little bit improved... Giving me some good kicks if I try to give him water and dunk his head

Well, I am not a vet - - - one thought I had was that perhaps he is getting too much of something if you are giving that multivitamin.

I know that 150 mg of niacin in a gallon of water is not going to harm them (based on recommendations by Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks), but there are other vitamins and minerals in that multivitamin that could very well be harmful in large doses.

Ahh ok. I have the raising duck books but it's so hard to parse out what is ok on paper.

I will dissolve the niacin pills from my previous flock.

Had some poop (not healthy but atleast some).

However now my cayuca is raspy. They have water enough to dunk their heads....I will give them all another bath.
