baby duck questions

well, i have been dealing with an uphill battle for a few days now. i have a baby duck that has a little over a quarter of the shell gone. but its been like this for almost 24 hours and does not seem to be progressing. its active and tries wiggling around but can't seem to break through. how long should we wait before we help it out?

well, didnt go very well. same problem as the last one we last. from what i've been told there's a sack that absorbs? anyways it was still there. so i kept the shell on that part. guess we'll see how it goes. starting to think i am not meant for this.
