My little duckling that I posted about a couple days ago still hasn't tried to zip. She keeps pecking and shell is coming off, but the membrane is still intact. Her yolk hasn't completely absorbed either and it's been almost three days. She's really big and doesn't seem to be able to move around. She's still yawning and chewing, so I know she's still absorbing. I've been keeping the membrane moist with coconut oil and water mist, so she won't get shrink wrapped. I'm so worried and I don't want to bring her out too fast. I've read a ton of articles, but none say what to do to help her absorb and to keep her from dying! Please help me save my little pippy girl!

Go to RaisingDucks.com I tried to give you a you tube page but couldn't. Hope the little one gets out o.k. I just love animals. Keep me posted?

She's been hatching for two days? That's not unusual. I've had them take three days from pip to zip. If she's still moving around and doesn't seem distressed, she's probably fine.
I can see from your last thread that you can see the yolk and that she hasn't absorbed it, so you know that she's not ready to hatch. So what, exactly, could you do for her? Best thing to do is just leave her be, for now.

Good luck with her and any others(?)

Patience....is nearly impossible when a duckling is in peril!

But patience you must have. Just a bit longer. I thought I had a dud, his brothers and sister hatched days before him. I always unhatch the dudes. And he was NOT A DUD!
