Edited for more explanation.

My kid started getting red in the mouth like it was having an alergic reaction to something, then it quit drinking and within an hour of it stopping to drink it started bawling like it had a tummy ache and died in my arms, that quick!!!! Please don't feed your goats calf milk replacer no matter what anyone tells you!

Ok so can I feed her straight whole milk warmed up or do I need to add the evaporated milk to it, too?

I have several friends who just use whole cows milk, warmed up. They add nothing else to it and their babies have done great.

I would say the evap milk and heavy cream and buttermilk is to put it back the way mother nature had the milk before pasturization. Whole milk is so much better than the milk replacers. Use it until you can get the other stuff.!

I start mine with cows milk and half& half...for the first few weeks and then just cows milk...Its the whey in the replacer that isnt good and it wont curddle and then they get the scours...with calves I use 1/2 cows milk to 1/2 replacer with good results and it just dont work with goats. I have learned by trial and error...the errors hurt to much...good luck

Post an add on CL or in your local paper asking for goats milk- alot of people will step up and give or sell you some. I keep canned goats milk and evaporated milk on hand then mix it in even parts with whole cows milk. It can't hurt to add a bit of organic infant cereal in it, just enough to make it a little thicker, they usually grow like weeds on that. But yeah, pretty much anything is better then milk replacer

Ok we switched her milk.

Do you think she's already been hurt by the milk replacer? She only got it for her feeding last night and this morning? Did I switch in time?

The whole milk should do fine once she gets the hang of it.. just by all means watch for any signs of scours.. that will definately put her down reallly fast!! I would also keep the hay out for her to become interested in.. she will definately take to hay/grain way later than kids actually raised by mom as they don't have anyone to learn from unless you want to get down and show her..

Once she starts nibblin the hay hopefully her rumen will start developing and she will get the hang of the eating thing.. I would also recommend to get some C/D ANTITOXIN not the toxoid..just incase she develops stomach problems.. this stuff given orally will kill off the bad stuff in her gut before it kills her. you might want to pick up some vitamins too.. a/e helps with appetite as does b complex plus since she came from livestock sale no telling what if any colostrum she got from momma.. Keep a tube of probios on hand too.. with her being so young her rumen is developing so at a young age probios could be seem more of a precautionary item.. but it won't hurt. Pop over to the goat wisdom site too.. beaucoup info on goats and a good message board for only goat related stuff!!!
