Hello everyone,
I recently just got 2 baby geese and 3 baby ducks. I went to water them and notice one of my geese won't walk on her left leg and she cries if you try to extend it. The leg is swollen and hot to the touch. I think she may have fell and hurt it the cage was a bit slipper but I am not sure. I have called a bunch of vets within an 100 mile radius and know one will look at her because she is considered exotic. I don't know what to do days have went by since the injury and she is eating and drinking well and she now has is bent where she will hobble on the knee part but still it is hot and swollen and she can't walk. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Your post is jumping around like a jumping bean. Calm down and take a deep breath.

Where is the injury on the leg exactly? Where is the swelling and heat? How many days since the injury? Any wounds on the leg or foot? Describe in detail exactly how she is walking on the leg. What have you done for her so far?

It's been about a week since the injury and I have soaked it in epsom salt and iced packed it. When it first happened it was extremally hot now it has cooled down but still really warm compared to the other leg. I think it's the knee it's all swollen and this is also the part where she is now hobbling on it but if you go to touch this part she tries to bite and if I try to extend her leg she screams. She is a good goose and everything else is okay but this. I feel bad that she cannot walk I take her out of the cage and let her in the grass I am by her side the entire time but she can not stretch the left leg back out. I don't know what to do.

I believe it is called the shank I called it the knee but it's that section in the middke of the gosling leg.

Swelling and heat are indicative of one of two things- infection or fracture. Which seems more likely? You can see the injury, so which does it look more like?
