My two White African Dewlap eggs hatched yesterday! This was my first ever incubation and hatch!

The hatch was not without its problems...humidity was a nightmare to control, despite a hygrometer showing 80% humidity, the air was still far too dry - I think with hindsight, the hygrometer was faulty - and I was having to add water and damp sponges as the hatch progressed.
Both eggs pipped a full 24 hours before hatching! One egg broke out very quickly once it started to unzip, it was determined to escape and was really tapping away at the shell! The second egg, not so easy - it turned into a full assisted hatch! I have never been so nervous! The chick was HUGE! It was totally wedged in the shell and couldn't possibly have wriggled around to unzip. I am sure I have a boy!!
Both chicks went under the electric hen late last night, about 3 hours after hatching as they were not drying and were shivering in the hatcher (36.5c). This morning, both are very vocal! They are staying under the heat plate, have fluffed up but are still tottery - they have not eaten or drunk yet. Is it okay that they have not eaten or drunk yet, please?

I will take some more pictures once the goslings come out from under the heat plate - they are hiding in the warm at the moment!

Next week, hopefully, there may be some ducklings and another goose...!!!
