Baby peafowl sick

Our local feed store offers a 23% medicated chick starter that we use. When I asked one of the largest peafowl breeders in the states he said that he thought that 20% might be 'too hot' for yearlings and older birds.

The one I used in 2015 is 27% and it's medicated with bacitracin, not amprolium. Pretty sure bacitracin is used as a growth promoter and as a NE preventative.

The one I used in 2014 was an un-medicated 25.3% that was higher in fat and the quality from bag to bag was highly variable, so I switched in 2015 to the 27%.

Tried the purina 30%, but the bags were often several months old, so I stopped buying those.

FWIW, I think purina makes a medicated "Flock Raiser".

I go with a 22% protein by Nutrena all year as a base feed for my adults. The chicks start off on a 28% protein medicated with Amprolium game bird starter feed.
