I have a chick 2 half wks old falling over. very wobbly on her feet. when she falls over she gets back up. but really squawks loudly. I tried to touch her head peeps loud. while in the brooder she is constantly shaking her head. can chicks get ear problems? other then that eating drinking, pooping. poop seems normal. couple really big ones..
I took her away from the others to keep them safe. she improved for two days. I changed food an water.. medicated food new. an pro biotic, electrolyte in water.. I took her out to exercise her she walked a bit fell back on legs a lot but moved around an pooped couple times.. not sure if I should put her back with others or keep her in the brooder alone. the longer I keep her away the harder for them to accept her..
help peep..

The below statement is not a diagnosis or meant to freak you out. Just want to bring this to your attention.
I would be very mindful of Newcastle disease with a chick exhibiting such symptoms. It should be separated from any other chickens as a precaution. New castle effects the central nervous system and can cause the symptoms you described. New Castle is transmittable to humans. Can cause conjunctivitis symptoms, and even flu like symptoms in humans. Extremely deadly to birds.

It also very well could be an ear infection. Antibiotics can be given to correct this. I would inspect the ear closely for discharge or brownish crust around the ear which can be a sign of ear infection.

I kept her in a separate cage for four days. today up walking, peeping, cooing. I'm watching her now still wobbly, but trying to roost on the thermometer. was up and walking ok as I'm watching her. I checked everything with a magnifier (my eyes not so good). see nothing..I hatched her out my first time. she's cross between a black sexlink an newhampshire red. she hatched in 20 days. my first born. She's on probiatics and medicated food. think she had a pasty butt. put yogurt in food a day. but that was two wks ago.
I'll keep her seperated till she's perfecly fine. looking up Newcaslte disease..

Not that. put her back in big brooder an kept doing it again. lost weight. brought her back in small brooder. she eats drinks an is again. ok. up but slow an still wobbly. she seems to b the runt instead of the biggest. so I'll just keep her till she passes or gets well? not fluids no sneezing. just eating drinking pooping.. I'm at a lost..

Ive been doing lots of research, but this is very difficult cause no vets work on chicks an I only have the internet.. but might b a vitamin deficiency so going to try that...
the chick is now 3 wks old started when she was 2 wks. so been keeping her in a small brooder. she peeps very loudly when she falls over an cant get up. peeps when the light is off, gets scared I guess... but is eating an drinking. pooping ok.. feathers are in, she's hangin in there. so I have to try this.
going to give her brewers yeast in food (1tsp), and niacin in water (150mg to a gal).. I'll let you know how this works I have my fingers crossed I have time to do this...and this is the treatment...

its been about four days peep is hangin in there. doing a lot better. I brought her out to sit in the sun. put a pan of dirt for her, but really no interest. about half hour put her on the grass. went all over, but not as a chick her age. slow but moved an pecked her an there.. found a little spot to try to take a nap. but she is doing better..
put brewers yeast in her crumble, niacin in her water with probiotics an electrolytes..I need to know if I should add vitamins or a one supplement product?
