My pheasants moved into their new digs last night (And are very happy). So I went out and finally got some pictures of them to confirm what color they are. The carton said black mute which I interpret to be black melanistic mutant. Is that what they look like to you? I am pheasant stupid and still learning. BTW - their new grow out pen (for now) is a 60 - 70 square foot hoop pen. That should be enough for 9 pheasants for now shouldn't it? They are 5 weeks old.

If you want PM me your address and I will send you some eggs from my blacks before they quit laying completely. It will give you somthing to compare yours to. Mine don't have much brown lacing at all like those.

They look like they are ringneck X melanistics. Look up chsseads and find his/her pheasant pics...the melanistics are really beautiful.

ETA: They shouldn't have any brown lacing, that's from the ringneck blood.
