Hi y'all!
I have 7 baby quail that I hatched in my incubator. A wild quail was laying a clutch just before we moved. I tried moving them very close to the planter but she quit laying eggs and never sat on them so I put them in my incubator. 7 of 10 hatched out perfectly and were all thriving. About 3 days ago 1 of them got into the waterer (despite having plenty of gravel in it) and was very chilled and laying on its back. I quickly held it under the heat emitter and warmed up the incubator and got him in to dry for a few hour's and he seemed back to normal. Yesterday, I thought it was the same bird but not sure, was very lethargic and had his head hanging down low. I dipped his beak and he drank some but hasn't gotten much better. This morning, another with same symptoms and this afternoon another. I have them on a 24% game bird starter, in a box with a ceramic heat emitter bulb and consistent 95° in brooder, on Bermuda hay. They all seem perfect until 1 by 1 they are depleting. I have been dipping their beaks in warm water with boiled egg yolks, bird benebac and a sprinkle of sugar mixed together. It helps for a few minutes (probably the sugar) and then they go right back to the low head stance. I'm thinking it has to be nutritional . Any suggestions are appreciated TIA!
