Baby quail introductions?

Hiya, I bought a batch of Chinese painted quail off the internet to see if they would hatch, unfortunately only one out of 23 eggs hatched, he/she is lively, healthy and now 10 days old, i have some new eggs in the incubator now on day 9 so he/she wouldn't be alone, they are a mix of Texas a&m and Coturnix, will that be a problem for him/her? as i read they are a lot bigger and Chinese like to be in a pair with other Chinese (do i need to get some more Chinese too??) if size difference wont be an issue, what is the best route to introduce to fellow hatchling's, I work from home so ive been available to be all he/she's had since the day he hatched, hes usually cuddled into my neck under my hair or hood so stays warm, even his brooder is in the bedroom, he/she sleeps on the side nearest to me as he squawks the place down if he cant see where i am, I've tried ignoring it to see if he stops but the longer i left (i nearly managed 15 minutes 3 times) the louder and more hysterical it sounded and i just cant do that its horrible - will this change? even if he spends some of the day outside socialising with others i'd happily have him indoors at night or have i warped him by over fussing - I think ive treated every animal i own the same way as babies also, at what age can you sex a Chinese painted? any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hey there I don't have experience with button quail but I do know they like to live in pairs, and I do know coturnix should be introduced when they're the same size to help prevent bullying so I think the coturnix may be too rough for your little button to handle. I would look for an opposite sex for it once you know the sex

Buttons can actually be housed in same sex pairs, so it's not necessary to wait till you know its sex to get a second one. But you should be ably to sex it when it's around 4 weeks old - sometimes it takes a little longer to be certain, sometimes you are certain when they are 2 weeks Look for rust red feathers around the vent - if they show up, it's a male.
While the coturnix are small, it might benefit from their company, but as they grow big they are likely to start pecking at the little one. Even if they just ignore it, it won't benefit from their company. It might be able to live happily with you as a house pet if you don't leave the house much, seeing as it is quite tame - I think that's a better alternative than housing it with the coturnix. But if you can find a friend of its own species, that's the best solution.

I would definitely not recommend housing a button quail with coutornix quail. The coutornix will be much larger and rougher from the second they clear their eggshells.
