Baby quail problems...

The feed that is in there is has small stuff in it too, I ran out of the grounded up food, and it was late

But i plan on grounding more up today. So the feed in there is only there for a small amount of time, and it had grounded up quail feed in it.

Can the baby live without toes? What will its life be like?
I have one that lost the tip of one toe, I’m not sure of the cause, but it was fine, missing all of them, it might have balance problems, but it might just adjust and be fine.

Was there a time when it stepped in poo or food and the toes were coated and you needed to remove the hardened goo? If something coats the toe, the chick grows so fast the goo can strangle the toe as the foot grows.

It almost looks like there is a circulation issue in the toes themselves. The toes will certainly fall off. if the little chick can learn to stand on it's own after it looses the toes it will likely do just fine. Let's just hope that the issue doesn't keep moving up the foot.

How are you heating the brooder? could the chick have burned the toes somehow? Is there an odor emanating from the feet that might indicate gang green or something?

I wasn’t even paying attention, is that an adult in the blue bowl? If so, it’s very possible the adult injured it. But I can’t tell, it could be a toy or feather duster in there.

The baby never had anything stuck on it’s toes, and there is a heating mat in the left corner, but not hot enough to burn anything.

The toes don’t smell either.

The bigger bird isn’t an adult quail, it is a baby pigeon.
