what do you feed a just hatched quail? have about 5 breaking free want to make sure i get the right food for them.

The highest protein gamebird starter you can find. You'll probably want to grind the crumbles smaller, at first. Baby quail have TINY beaks.

Here in Australia we can only get finch seed mix. My three day old Courtix chicks LOVE it. Someone also suggested fruit for them to peck at. But THE MAJOR PROBLEM is the water. I have had quite a few drown because the water is nice and warm from the brooder light and they just lie down in it and go to sleep. Since I moved the container away from the light I have had no more drown.

you can put marbles in their water so they can't drown

Be careful brooding them with chicken chicks-the chickens are much larger and tend to run over the quail, at least this is my expereince.

Marbles in the water and I used chicken starter mash, finely powdered.

Yeah I decided to get another box for the quail. Now I'm trying to puppy proof the box cause somehow my dashound got into the quail box and ate 3 quails in a matter of seconds it took me to get him out

Awww I'm sorry. I had only 2 hatch out of my first hatch ever. And my cat eat them.
