Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do. 
My broody buff orp hen hatched these 15 RIR chicks one week ago. I have been fermenting their feed. They seem quite vigorous and in good health. Probably move them all to the outside coop in another week.

How adorable they are...quite a big hatch!!
Cute. I would give mine moistened starter when they were small but never tried fermenting. It molds really quickly and never made more than they would eat in more than an hour or so.
