Just had to post this to the 'is my chicken a rooster' section.

I hatched out four Jersey Giants YESTERDAY and one of the four was easily 25% bigger and had a big comb already! Right out of the egg!!! And it's definitely 'the boss' and walks over the other babies.. Roo alert!!

The big comb looked massive when he was still wet but quite obvious here.

Yeah, I've known Jersey Giants to do that. . . Not mine though. However, my Marans cockerels tend to have enormous combs by 1 week of age.

I once saw someone hatch out a JG that already had wattles.

the other three in the hatch had microscopic combs and the chicks were much smaller. that one popped out and I went WHOA.. he's huge!!
