Roosters are great! Give him a while to outgrow his rascal stage and he might turn out to be an amazing fellow. Roosters are wonderful to have around, I can't help but be a little confused by people who don't want them. I have eleven of them and I wouldn't trade them for the world.

I am like these two folks - I love my roos. I have quite a few; it's noisy around here, but they all get along, they're all handsome, and they all do a good job for "their" ladies. The dominant rooster is the Boss of them all, and he's a real gentleman roo.

The obnoxious stage usually passes after they survive the testosterone poisoning and things settle down a bit. What was an obnoxious young cockerel can turn into a great rooster.

-> Don't get me wrong, at 6 months Gilda, Fred and Henry (all of my roos) did try the wing dance to test me. Once and that was it...i chased them around our yard and then held them for about 25 mins. I told myself getting into to chickens: i refuse to fear a chicken, im the human here! I do not let them mate in front of me or do any type of dominance display. When I walk up to them, they move out of my way... they know im the lead roo.

--> To this day, nobody has ever been chased or flogged by my roos. I even had my little cousin aiden (he's 5 yrs old) chase them around and nad-da.
