I have a baby chick that hatched 2 wks ago today along with 2 others. I noticed the one had a small around it's head when I picked it up to adore. I googled it and am thinking it has sour crop. It said to withhold water and food for 24 hours. Is this okay to do for a 2 week old bantam? And do I do this to all 3 or just the one?

I bought a small bag of the grit or ground granite and each time I fed her I sprinkled it on the top of her feed. The smell went away in about 2 days. I kept doing this and then just gradually out less . I haven't used it at all now.

Oh and yes she is fine now. And I did try to withhold food and water for 24 hours but I just couldn't. I did for 6-8 hours though.

Working with what I had on hand, I added a small amount of apple cider vinegar to their water and the smell has nearly vanished after 1 week.

Ohhh my goodness yes I forgot that I did giver her apple cider vinegar too. But only one day and I mixed the gallon but diluted it again because I had always heard not to give it to baby chicks.
