Baby was overdue and has terrible WRY NECK! Please help! šŸ’”

I’m doing EVERYTHING I possibly can. I took off the brace and she’s happier now. We feed them Purina Duck from Truck and Tractor Supply. And oyster shell calcium for egg quality.
Should I switch their food?
I’ve had many ducklings and she’s the first with wry neck. She was overdue and very large.
Unfortunately mom abandoned them after they dried under her wings. So again, I’m caring for the new babies.
Out of 11 eggs only 4 hatched. Very sad. Mom sat for 38 days perfectly and I don’t know why she abandoned them..
I’m working so hard with this baby and doing everything I was told, I’m just praying it will get better. ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹ I’m going to get selenium and niacin today to go along with everything else I’m doing for her.
She seems to be doing a bit better this morning, she’s running around instead of laying in the corner and eating herself!
Kindly,
Amy
Glad things seem better for her
It’s not uncommon for a young mom to not know what to do
My girl was scared of her hatched baby and tried to attack her
She was only 7 months old at the time when she went broody
She say perfectly as well but not so good at hatch time
Now she is 2 years old and I can introduce babies and she doesn’t get upset
She gives a head nod but doesn’t try to hurt them
@Miss Lydia has a Muscovy girl who also attacked her hatch once and is now a great mom when she gets the chance to be broody
Maybe next spring if she wants to try she will be much better

Yes! She’s exactly 1 year old.
We are not going to allow her to hatch anymore babies until next spring. We just going to collect them and donate them to a great place I found that helps poor families.
We just can’t get ourselves to eat our girls eggs! Lol!
She started laying in January, only 7 months old. She didn’t go broody and I incubated ALL of them and ran into many issues because I’m very new at this.
We ended up with 10 beautiful ducklings but lost 10 as well early on. I think I had the humidity too high.
I’m very dedicated to doing this and we now have a beautiful flock. My husband is out there working on the coupe daily to make sure it’s safe.
We have 8 right now and one dominant drake. I still don’t know how to sex them and they are still to young to grow into what a grown Muscovy drake looks like.
I’ve tried but haven’t had success with being able to tell.
We just love them all and they are all so friendly!! They still climb up on our laps like they did when they were babies! They never run away from us, but run to us when we come out looking for attention!
They have 3 pools that we clean daily because they enjoy clean water, and we spend quite a lot on spinach, kale and healthy greens. They LOVE peas, so I made them their own garden to forage in! Our huge German Shepherd adores them and vice versa. He rounds them up at the end of the day for us and they completely comply! He licks them and lays with them and they sit on his back and nap!! He even keeps the ducklings warm and has even been a surrogate ā€œdadā€ many times!
Sorry to yap away so much, but they mean so much to us and I don’t think I could EVER cull a duckling unless I knew it was suffering terribly.
One more thing, is my wry neck baby in pain? That’s my main concern..

Thank you as always. ā¤ļø
Amy
