Hello again! I was here about 10 years ago, but with the loss of my flock about 5 years ago, I have been away. Well, this morning is my youngest child’s 6th birthday, so we ordered 15 new chicks to arrive at the end of April! That gives us a few months to get the coop and run back into tip top shape! I have to rebuild a wall of the run as my former girls dug under the footers of the coop and that whole area needs redoing. Good thing I have a couple of helpers this time around!
We ordered 1 Gold-Lace Wyandotte, 1 Delaware, 3 Easter Eggers, and then 5 each of the “assorted rare breed” and “production pack” chicks from Meyer Hatchery...I’m so nervous ordering chicks through the mail, but our local feed store closed and the next closest (still in town, just not 5 minutes away) doesn’t seem to be getting chicks this year! We look forward to playing the “what am I” game with my 6 and 8 year olds! As a bonus, anything the kids do with chicks and chickens counts toward their school hours!
