Just stopping by to introduce myself. I was active in this group 2 years ago when we first started having chickens but we moved and had to give away our old flock and are starting anew. We only did it for a couple years before so I still feel like I still have a good bit to learn. Looking forward to chatting about chickens again! Oh and we got done guineas this time too!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

We got our first flock in 2016-2021, starting with a new flock this Spring 2023

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Just under 50 and 3 guinea keets

(3) What breeds do you have?
Buff Orpingtons, GL wyandottes, SL wyandottes, cinnamon queens, light brahmas, barred rocks, ameraucanas, true whitings blue, silkies and guineas

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Just being active outside and working with animals. I think animals in general are good for mental health.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Is raising 4 kids a hobby? Lol... Certainly feels like it! I also enjoy hiking, making fun birthday cakes(always feels like it's someone's birthday!), drawing with charcoal and cross-stitch.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have 3 boys and a little girl at the end. Ages 13, 11, 7 & 4. I like my kids like my chickens... Free range lol So we have just under 2 acres at the new house we moved into a year ago. Getting a dog is next on the list. I also write and am working on getting my first book published.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
I found BYC by just googling questions I had before we got our first set of chicks. It is really a God-send as a newbie! Thank you to everyone involved in this great community!
